I'm vegan and have a lot of food allergies. These puffs satisfy my craving for crunchy cereal, plus they are sugar free and gluten free! I purchased my first bag via Amazon, but I wish I could walk into a store and just buy a big bag. I've used them for cereal, in trail mix, and to make chocolate "rice crispy" treats. Initially I mixed them in with another high protein cereal (that's a little sweater than I'd like), but now I can eat a bowl of these without anything added. I'm looking to make protein bars with them next.
As long as you remember that they are not sweetened (and have a slight pea after taste) you will not be disappointed. I don't mind the subtle aftertaste and am happy that it helps me feel full.
These pea crisps add a nice texture and extra protein to salads, yogurt and fruit bowls. They have 6g of protein to half a cup. They are very light so this 1 lb bag is quite a lot. They are truly unflavored so you can add them to anything.I replaced high calorie granola on my yogurt and fruit bowls with Puris puffed pea crisps. It’s been a healthier option and I’m enjoying it. Puris is made in USA, non gmo, gluten free and soy free. These have been a great find
I use it like rice crispies!! Yummy in yogurts and when making candy.
I was looking for a healthy, single-ingredient way to replicate the crunch of Rice Krispies in my homemade bars and bowls.Pros: Single ingredient (pea flour) 6g of protein per serving Large volume for the weight Great crunchCons: Completely flavorless Slightly harder than rice puffsTexture and TasteThe texture is spot on. It is light and airy, perhaps just a little bit firmer than a traditional Rice Krispy. Because they are made of just pea flour, they are truly unflavored. This makes them perfect for adding texture without altering the taste of your food.VersatilitySince they are neutral, I use them for everything. They add a nice protein punch to my yogurt, fruit bowls, and salads. They are also excellent for making healthier cereal bars or clusters.ValueThe price is around $15 for a one-pound bag. Since these are puffed and lightweight, the bag is actually quite large. You get a lot of servings out of it, so the value feels right.ComparisonThese act almost exactly like Rice Krispies in recipes, but they offer way more nutrition than the sugary cereal aisle version.VerdictPerfect for healthy bakers or meal preppers who want a clean, plant-based crunch. One DownsideThey are strictly for texture. If you try to eat them plain as a snack, they are very boring because they have absolutely no flavor.
Sort of like rice crispies except made from pea protein, so they're pea crispies! (I know, doesn't have quite the same ring to it when you say that out loud lol)These come in a handy thick zip bag stuffed very full. So far I've tried them right out of the bag as a snack, added to cold cereals and to hot oatmeal. I tried them as a cold cereal on their own, with milk and a splash of date syrup for taste. I was surprised that they maintained their crunch. All very tasty and no complaints at all. I'm looking forward to trying them in cookies and healthy candy bars -- if I don't plow through them before I get to baking! :)These don't snap or crackle, but you can 'pop' them in your mouth right out of the bag if you want for a good crunch. I'm what you could call a bit "dentally challenged" but they do soften up just a bit in liquid. They don't have much flavor on their own, so they're probably best used as additions to trail mix snacks, baking, or toppings or salads, whenever you feel like a crunchy texture with a little extra added protein.I have tried this company's other pea protein offering, called protein crisps, which I like even better in several ways and can compare directly to these. That one was 5 stars all the way, with more protein per serving and easier for me to munch on, even with a smaller & denser consistency. These are similarly excellent, but not quite as amazing as the PURIS Crisps in my opinion. If we were allowed to use decimals, I'd rate these with 4.8 stars compared with the other's 5 stars.Made in the USA, 6g protein per 1/2c serving, I'm very happy with these and would buy more in the future.
