First impression, I love how clean the label is. The ingredients list is super short—it’s just Pea Protein Extract and nothing else, not even the preservatives. The best part about this powder is how much protein you get per serving. You only need a 35-gram scoop to get a massive 27 grams of pure protein and that's huge. My other protein powders just don't compare: Orgain only gave me 20g of protein from a bigger, 46g scoop, and even my ISOPURE only got me 25g from the same 35g scoop size. If you want maximum bang for your protein buck, this one wins. Now, for the bad news. As you can see in the picture, the texture is fine ground, and to be honest, it looks exactly like pea or chickpea flour. Since it’s unflavored, it smells and tastes exactly dry pea flour drink. One needs some time to get used to that raw pea taste.I would definitely avoid mixing it with just water. Blend it with any flavored drink like chocolate milk and water. Just milk will again make it very think and hard to drink. No lumps when mixed with water in my ShakeSphere mixer.
Received this morning and added it to my coffee. No bad aftertaste. Blended smoothly - no clumps.
I picked this up as a simple, plant based option for days when I don’t want whey, and it’s been exactly that. no fuss, no weird additives, just pea protein. The label is short and to the point, which I appreciate. I wanted pure protein without the parade of artificial colors and fillers, and that’s what this is.I’ve been mixing it with regular milk and chocolate milk, and it blends surprisingly well for a pea protein. A few shakes in a bottle and it’s smooth enough to sip without chasing clumps. The taste is mild and leans neutral, so it doesn’t fight with whatever you mix it with chocolate milk actually makes it feel like a treat after a workout. One scoop clocks in at 27 grams of protein, which is solid for hitting daily targets without stacking multiple servings. The 2 pound bag is a good value for the amount of protein you get, and it’s easy to work into more than just shakes I’ve tossed a scoop into oatmeal and pancake batter and it disappears right in.What sealed the five stars for me is the simplicity. I don’t need neon colors, sugar bombs, or a list of ingredients that reads like a lab sheet. This is clean, plant based protein that mixes well, sits fine on the stomach, and helps me hit my numbers. Exactly what I wanted.
This is what unflavored protein powder should be. No sweeteners, no fillers, no aftertaste, and no mystery grit. The texture is actually smooth—just toss a scoop in water, coffee, a smoothie, or even pancake batter, and it disappears without any clumps or chalkiness. The protein-to-calorie ratio is stellar: 27 grams of protein for only 140 calories per serving. It’s about as clean as it gets for plant-based options, and being free from dairy, soy, and gluten means you can share it with pretty much anyone.Taste? Basically none, which is exactly what you want if you’re not looking for “birthday cake” flavor in your oatmeal. If you’re into protein coffee, baking, or just want to bulk up a soup or shake, this powder gets the job done quietly. If you’ve suffered through gritty, sweetened, or funky plant proteins, this is a major upgrade. It’s not going to transform your recipes, but it absolutely won’t ruin them.Great option if you just want pure, clean protein without the junk. Mixes well, stays out of the way, and gives you all the protein with none of the drama.
You know what you're getting when you order this protein powder. I mean, how could you not, when the ingredients list a single item: peas. This powder is very fine and mixes well with chocolate milk, resulting in a very thick protein shake. Be careful about adding other powders, as I tried to add a scoop of peanut butter powder into my 10oz of milk + 1 scoop of this protein powder, and it was too much. There simply wasn't enough liquid to support it all. Typically I can do this with other protein powders but with this Puris brand pea powder it became extremely thick and the peanut powder failed to full mix in.Taste: This powder is going to leave a dried pea aftertaste. Most vegan protein powders have this same effect and so you can try to mix in other flavors to mask it, but it will always be there and typically shows up on the after taste. It's not bad, but if you're trying vegan powders after exclusively using animal proteins you will notice it. It's better going in knowing that it exists otherwise it can leave a bad first impression.Even with the pea flavor it's still a good quality, pure protein powder, without any additives to try and sweeten or mask the taste, and I appreciate that. It gives me control over the content of my shakes.Overall a great vegan protein powder.
