These crunchy nuggets are small (photo shows one teaspoon of them). The flavor is neutral, so they can be used in a variety of ways. I’ve used them to add crunch to soups and salads. Eaten plain, they are fine but not very interesting (I imagine that an onion or garlic or nutritional-yeast version of these would be an awesome snack food, if they were a bit larger). At $23/pound they are pricey, but I expect a pound to last me a long time.
I used about 1/4 cup which half the serving size of 1/2 cup. This was a great alternative to putting croutons on our salad. Gives salad a nice crunch and adds some extra protein. They don’t really have a taste to them, but love crunch! The expiration date is July 1, 2023 so more than a year away. I don’ think this will last the summer!
I eat a plant based diet and was wanting a way to add a little crunch to some of my breakfasts and snacks. These pea protein crisps are crunchy and take on the flavor of whatever you add them to. Can you eat them on their own? Yes, and they aren't bad tasting but they aren't great tasting either. It's that classic pea protein taste and if you've ever used any plant-based protein drinks or powders you likely know the flavor. Probably not something you'd enjoy snacking on for very long. That said, they make a great topper for: oatmeal, banana nice-cream, chia pudding, black bean brownies, fruit, salads, wraps, and pretty much anything else you might come up with.Crunchy is one of my favorite textures and these crisps certainly bring that to my favorite meals. I like 'em!
The PURIS Organic Pea Protein crisps are packed with 18g of pea protein and can be incorporated in your diet very creatively.I tried the crisps right out of the bag, which would have been my preferred method of consumption, it had an okay taste that was mostly flavorless. My only problem is they stuck to my dental work.So I put on my thinking cap and found several ways to incorporate the crisps in my diet. First the savoury aspect: I added the crisps to soups and salads to get my daily protein and found them okay. Adding the crisps to my soup gave it an earthy nuttiness. I sprinkled them on my morning yogurt instead of granola, a healthy keto friendly option. I also used it in my Tzatziki dip to give it a protein boost and add some crunch. Last, I also tried making Raita (an indian dip made with yogurt – blend well, add a pinch of salt, pinch of sugar, and finely chopped cucumber with onions) and mixed in the protein crisps and garnished it with finely chopped cilantro. Worked great! Now comes the sweet part. I mixed the pea crisps in with soft medjool dates, crushed pistachios, almonds and cashews and rolled them into balls. This makes for a guilt-free treat to satisfy your sweet tooth. BTW they store well for one week refrigerated.Overall these are a great supplement to mix into other foods if you're looking to add some protein and a crunchy texture.
One pound of tiny little crispy ground up peas and rice starch pellets that have a very neutral flavor and add a great crunch to other foods. Grown, manufactured, and packed in the USA they are both gluten and soy free.High in protein (18 grams in 30 grams), these little tubes are a very good way to up the protein content in a meatless meal without having to resort to lots of cheese. They have a great crunchy texture but aren't too hard -- no visits to the dentist will be needed after eating them. They taste a bit like beans when eaten right out of the package, and, like beans eaten all by themselves, did leave a little filmy feeling on my teeth. However, I do believe these pea crisps are meant to be added sparingly to other foods like yogurt, oatmeal, tacos, thick soups, or salads to add a bit of crunch without adding a lot of empty calories. Eaten that way the extremely faint taste and filmy feeling disappear. The pea crisps are packed in a heavy plastic package with a zip closure. The expiration date is about 1 1/4 years in the future.
No replacement/return option if you get a defective package like I did. Heat seal was defective and crisps were dumped into Amazon box. These are too pricey to receive inedible.
I am always happy to find a source of protein and these are a good one. They have a delightful crunch, not at all too hard, IMO, compared to quinoa crisps but with much more protein. The taste is mildly vegetal, less pea-like than other pea protein ingredients that I have used. They make a lovely addition to my morning oatmeal or fruit and yogurt. I look forward to finding other uses.
I regularly purchase Puris textured pea protein and love it. I decided to try the crisps to add to my Greek yogurt. It’s a delicious combo. The crisps don’t have a taste by themselves but add a nice crunch and boosts the protein quite a bit.The bag has 15 half cup servings and is expensive. I measure out 1/4 servings to help offset the cost. Would recommend the splurge.
PURIS organic pea protein crisps are a great addition to our vegan diet. My favorite way to eat them is with yogurt and fruit.
PURIS Organic Pea Protein Crisps
These are really great! Have a tasty crunch and don’t have any bitterness to them. Also one of the only pea protein products that doesn’t give me GI upset. Only problem… They are out of stock SO OFTEN that it makes it a problem if your meal plans rely on these. Honestly guys, step up the production! No one wants Mon-organic anyway. Just make it all organic!
Perfect snack!
I love these in a bowl of cereal. The protein boost lasts for hours!
These little crisps taste great, have good crunch and are easy to take when I go to a restaurant helping me stay vegan.
not good
Adds a nice crunch and texture when added to soups. I especially like that it adds protein.
These crisps have a flavor I enjoy. Plus, the fun added crunch. I enjoy these as a tasty snack. They would also work great on a salad as a fun topping.Recommended
I like them but this is coming from someone who loves to eat tofu plain haha! They work great as sort of a crouton in salad, or sprinkled in yogurt. They crush right up into a powder, so you can also just dump them into your smoothie and it doesn't seem to affect the flavor.
Definitely not a good texture or flavor for me. But if you’re looking for versatile, high protein food, this might work for you. It can be used in different ways. It is a big bag too.
I guess I was expecting a milder flavor, but I have to say that I don't care for these. As a protein source they are a decent enough price, but I don't like the bitter flavor. To me they taste like raw dried beans. They are crispy, but they leave a gummy residue on my teeth which is not pleasant. I though they might be better in soup after being softened a bit, but they weren't great that way either. If the flavor is one that you like, then this is probably a good product for you. But if you aren't prepared for the raw bitter dried bean flavor, it can be pretty off-putting.
I use these in smoothies, yogurt, salad etc for an extra kick of protein that is clean! Awesome product. USA made.
Love these! I love cereal, but i hate that its low on protein. This is like protein cereal! What i like to do is mix it with other cereals. For instance, i love special k woth yogurt. I just mix this in there. It doesn't change the taste much and it adds a bunch of low calorie protein! I love this!
By themselves they are pretty tasteless but that is what makes them so versatile. These protein crisps are excellent to use in cookies to boost the protein in them. I mixed some in with my granola to boost the protein and in yogurt as well. Overall a cool product that has many uses.
I love these protein crisps! They are perfect to add to my almond yogurt in the morning to get a little extra protein. I love the added crunch. They are tasty and it’s so easy to get that extra protein in my diet on workout days.
This is a nice sized bag of vegan protein crisps. Though you could just eat them by themselves (they don't have much flavor), I think they are better used to add protein and crunch to other foods. The size and texture makes them particularly ideal as a yogurt topping.
I have been adding this puffs to my homemade keto chocolate bars. They are flavorless and yet add a wonderful crunch and stay crunchy which is important. These are also great in my homemade keto granola. I have yet to find a way that they do live up to my expectations.
There are quite a few selections for vegan protein. Recently soy has been found to have many issues. Pea protein is getting popular. I tried a few brands. They all taste like animal feeds. I am surprised that this one has almost no flavor. I can add it to my oatmeal, cereal, or smoothie. The crunchiness is quite enjoyable. It is good to know it is organic. You may want to give it a try.
